Community Relations
Posted: January 8, 2008
At AOL, we know that the Internet can play a powerful role in bringing communities together, encouraging giving, helping people find volunteer opportunities, helping improve the safety and health of children. AOL has a long history of leveraging the power of the Internet to benefit those in need and improve communities, and we will continue to do so.
AOL’s Community Relations efforts will focus on three areas:
- Children’s safety and health
- Citizen philanthropy
- Online public service advertising
Children’s safety and health
AOL is committed to improving Internet safety for children and partners with
the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). In addition, AOL will support non-profit organizations that promote the health and well-being of children. In 2007, for example, AOL supported the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s annual Thanks and Giving Campaign through promotions on AOL Body, Money & Finance, Shopping and more.
Citizen philanthropy
AOL helps to empower consumers and employees to use the Internet to learn, act and build a long-term commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism. AOL is a founding partner of Network for Good, the Internet’s
leading charitable resource, which brings together donors, volunteers and charities online. AOL also provides numerous paths to volunteerism in employees’ communities.
Online public service advertising
AOL partners with the Ad Council for their PSA programs and other community outreach programs.
